Golden Globes Red Carpet 2014

4:28 pm

The 2014 Golden Globes Red Carpet was quite a bang this year, with wearing dresses over shirts (Julia Roberts, in Dolce and Gabbana), and a dress that has been speculated greatly, worn by the glamorous Jennifer Lawrence (Christian Dior Couture). Emma Watson should be granted an award for pulling of the highest split in a dress I have ever seen, and she matched this with what seemed to be black leggings. (Dior, Roger Vivier).

The gowns worn by the ladies this year seemed to all be black, white or a shade of the red family. Amy Adams wore a gorgeous Valentino dress, which of course was red. The way the dress draped around her was perfect, and is in my top 5 dresses from the night. Jessica Chastin, wore Givenchy and Bulgari. The black gown suited her figure and her necklace just brought the whole thing together magnificently. A beautiful Kerry Washington was dressed in white. The dress made her look so elegant and brought out her beautiful skin. ( Balenciaga, Fred Leighton, Casadei).

Some favourites from the red, black and white gowns of the night.

Naomi Watts, Kate Beckinsale, and Gabourey Sidibe were 3 of the few who wore stunning metallic gowns.

The most beautiful theme of the gowns from the night, in my opinion, were those featuring Baroque embroidery or lace.

And it was quite a breath of fresh air, seeing some bright colours, astray from the blacks, whites and reds. My favourite being Nancy O'Dell in Marchesa; the colour was perfect, and brought out her gorgeous blonde locks. Helen Mirren in Jenny Packham, Roger Vivier, Boite de Nuit Fleur, Bulgari; looked fabulous in the pale aqua gown. The way the fabric was gathered together on her right hip made her hourglass figure look extremely elegant, especially when matched with the sleeves on her gown. Although I loved the bright yellow on Lena Dunham who wore Zac Posen, Harry Winston; I just don't think the dress suited her figure as well as it could have.

My favourite gowns over the whole night that I've spoken about so far,  were worn by Emma Watson, Amy Adams, Sofia Vergara, Naomi Watts, Cate Blanchett, Helen Mirren and Nancy O'Dell. Other favourites (pictured below) were worn by Mila Kunis, Michelle Dockery, Olivia Wilde and Emilia Clarke.
