Trends I Will Buy This Season

9:00 am

We are in the season of fashion shows and I have been watching the recordings of the Spring/Summer 2016 runways like crazy! Today I thought I would share with you my favourite trends currently on the runways, that I can see myself purchasing and incorporating into my style.

1. Gingham
Victoria Beckham
Gingham is a trend we saw last year and I just can't drop it. I think it does come hand in hand with my love for flannel. Gingham can be quite easy to style as a focal point of an outfit.

2. Exposed Shoulders
Oscar De La Renta
    Ralph Lauren

Exposed shoulders are making quite the appearance. From high neck cuts to thin straps, off the shoulder and strapless; all the shoulders are being bared! The two styles I'm most looking forward to showing some shoulder is the off the shoulder (as pictured in Oscar De La Renta) and High Cut (as pictured in Ralph Lauren). I think these two will become quite versatile in my wardrobe and I'm already envisioning some outfits.

3. Fringe

Alexander Wang

Fringe is back, which means 70's is even more in. From what I have observed so far (I've not yet finished watching the runways!) the fringe isn't super crazy. As pictured in Alexander Wang, it's adding quite a nice detail in a way we aren't quite used to seeing fringe. As pictured in Tory Burch it is being used as a nice embellishment seperating the top and bottom, and finishing off the look.

4. Pattern On Pattern

Diane Von Furstenberg

This one is quite interesting. What are we always told? Never use pattern on pattern! But this season it just isn't the case. As you can see pictured in Diane Von Furstenberg the use of double patterning is with a pattern that's similar but opposite colouring. I'm not quite fond of this, possibly just because of the colouring though. Now in Tory Burch it's a little different. An emballished trouser and what seems to be a knitted tee. Quite the interesting combination if you ask me. Although these two combinations in particular don't tickle my fancy I am wanting to explore patterns a bit more and definitely want to try out using two contrasting patterns in an outfit.

5. Bold Patterns

Diane Von Furstenberg

Speaking of patterns, another trend seems to be bold patterns.  These images speak for themselves here, but I'm looking forward to getting a bit more experimental with bright and bold patterns. Something like pictured in Diane Von Furstenberg would definitely be something I'd purchase.

6. Ruffles

Oscar De La Renta

Ruffles! I find ruffles to be a more feminine trend, and I am always finding myself reaching for things that make me look super sweet and innocent (this is in hopes I will never age). This season ruffles seem to be coming in many forms, big waves, subtle hints and hello! Everywhere! My favourite is the way they have been used here in Oscar De La Renta and Ralph Lauren
