Baby Nursery Inspiration

1:00 pm

With just a few weeks until my due date I'm working on DIY projects and setting up the baby room. I can't do anything too full on due to complications but over the whole pregnancy I have come across lots of different things that have inspired me, so I thought I'd share them with you all

Floating pom poms. It's no co-incidence this photo happens to be themed purple as well. I'm not a HUGE fan of pink so definitely wanted to have our little girls room to be purple. I found this while scrolling through pinterest with the search term 'purple room decor' and fell in love. I want to eventually have our little ones room be a magical place for her and I definitely think these floating pom poms would do that!

When I saw this crochet rug I fell in love instantly. How cute is it?! I think it not only would add such a unique touch to the room but also would be great for tummy time and all the different textures of the rug would be great for sensory development.

We made the decision pretty early on that we wanted to use modern cloth nappies, and so far my biggest worry has been storage. I came across this cool storage idea on pinterest and would love to incorporate it into our little one's room. I love the fact you can see the patterns and colours of each nappy which would make it so easy to grab which one you want.

I've decided I'm going to make this as a DIY for the room! I've looked up a few techniques and I think I know which one I will go for. Of course the skirt will be purple but I'm thinking of possibly making the table top gold! In my opinion this would add such a magical, 'princessy' touch to the room.

Continuing on with the magical feel I knew straight away when I started thinking about the room that I wanted fairy lights incorporated. They would be like stars in the night sky; so having them across the ceiling will be such a perfect addition to the room.

We have quite an ugly shade of yellow in all the rooms in our house, and we have roller blinds on every window  so the walls look quite plain and boring. I was looking for ways to incorporate more colour in the room without having to do much and saw these woven curtains. Even though in this image they are in front of a window, I think it would be really cool to do the same sort of thing just on the wall. Using shades of purple and gold of course!

So there's a few images I'm using as inspiration for our baby room. It can get a bit overwhelming at times thinking about how to set things up when you have a whole new human being entering not only the world, but your world. I have found that making plans for things like her room has helped bring a little steadiness to what have been lots of crazy, chaotic thoughts.

Did any of these jump out to you for inspiration? I'd love to hear your thoughts

  1. Wow. These look.so.pretty. I too use Cloth diapers and the above storage looks so beautiful. The rug too. Sadly we never had an extra room to decorate and use as nursery. Do check my latest post for printable of checklist for newborn shopping. Might be of interest to you.
